California-based artist, Jessie Laura takes over the Contemporary Creatives Instagram and gives us a behind-the-scenes look at her daily routine at the studio, processes, and current inspirations.
Jessie Laura is a mixed media artist and art director based in California.
Influenced by the contrast of nature and architectural structures, her collage work features geometric and organic shapes that create depth, texture, and movement. Furthermore, abstraction through form, light, and shadow allows her to respond to and engage with contemporary culture’s onslaught of visual imagery. Laura graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design.
Working primarily with paper, her recent work is a reflection of her interaction with the city and nature. Jessie spends time collecting impressions from busy streets, panoramic views of open landscapes and conveys them through collage. Her process demands observation and meticulous paper manipulation, using clarity and simplicity as her visual language, Jessie strives to generate the maximum effect on the viewer -sensations and emotions- with minimal media.
